Interoperable systems for a more equitable, caring and regenerative future.
What if our tools, technologies, and processes were systems of interconnectedness where radical responsibility, radical generosity, and vulnerable transparency provided an interface for humanity to coordinate its complex collective intelligence in real time across markets, borders, and ideologies? We believe this enables our community organisms to build and steward holoptic, distributed, and decentralized webs of trust using simple mobile, web, and desktop apps with zero knowledge of and full self-sovereignty over the vast networks, databases, indexes, graphs, variables, attributes, relationships, ledgers, languages, agreements, and more that are available to tap into and participate in our shared collective intelligence. We call this the Gaia Stream.
Imagine what a plurality of systems available on local and regional levels could offer a society in terms of representation and resilience. A selection of systems available, offering real alternatives to misrepresentative and exploitative power structures to the point that they eventually become obsolete. It is necessary for a society to be resilient and adaptive to the circumstances of failed centralized systems. It is necessary to have available a wide range of available options that can allow a society to not “put all its eggs in one basket”, so to speak, and instead distribute the impact of economic and political instability over a breadth of choices in which any citizen can actively participate and find their needs met. - House Without Walls, circa 2008
It’s hard to identify trust, care, generosity, fairness or collaboration within today’s global economy. Humans evolved as fundamentally social creatures, unable to survive, never mind thrive, without the collective support of our fellow humans. Imagining any alternative economy needs to consider interdependencies as a starting point, not as an afterthought. Stream helps to establish a collaborative network effect that is structured around a distinct set of principles centered on care, trust, generosity, the importance of collective intelligence, and deep sets of relationships; one that is interoperable enough to be seamlessly utilized across the spectrum of economies at scale and at the same time specific and adaptable to local dynamics.
Simultaneous, Co-locative, and Pluralistic
The internet wasn’t built with a native data layer and database servers have centralized information and power amongst a few big institutions, all which has resulted in a web of silos rather than a web of data. This process has helped make (or break) the largest of corporations, consortiums, and governments ever conceived, all of which routinely exert tremendous tension on civic society, economics, and ecological systems.
From decentralized, permission-less identity to portable, censorship-resistant social media and cross-platform collaboration, many new use cases require a solution for managing dynamic data on the open internet, beyond the control of any single server, system, or concentration of control.

By combining distributed ledgers, p2p networking and storage, and open, agent-centric protocols, Stream provides a secure, collaborative, global network for managing user and app data beyond the myriad of silos using open source, interoperable components and protocols and a means of directing and managing group activity in an open, transparent, and equalizing way.
Distributed and Coherent
Stream and its Flows make up a global ecosystem of interoperable resources and allows developers to build composable applications with unprecedented modularity, trust, and scale. Stream is a network built as the trusted foundation upon which a more connected, transparent, and user-centric internet is possible, such as advanced data marketplaces and exchange protocols simplified enough for games, community organizing, governance, social networking, alternative economies (see Economic Spectrum above), and more. Stream empowers any government, business, community, NGO, or family to launch new collaborative Flows with interoperable parts made from the best makers and creators around the globe.
Stream provides readily available interfaces to the interplanetary collective of devices, apps, data, economy, communities, etc to participate in meaningful social ways.

Consider a near-instantaneous and untampered communication from point to point in order to enable edge technology, such as a chat bot agent, to accomplish or verify its targeted charitable goals with agency and accountability. This simple process alone will require an extensive support system to consider in order to enable individual offers to be matched to individuals or communities capable of accomplishing them across borders, barriers, technologies, and knowledge. Financial protocols for accepting monetary donations must be implemented, and protocols ensuring a strong proofing system must be used in order to prove that appropriate tasks have been accomplished and credentials or rewards may be claimed. In addition, the user experience must be simple to use far beyond Web3’s normal capability. We believe these basic social technologies can collectively power the transition to a collaborative network that is centered on care, trust, generosity, the importance of collective intelligence, and develop deep sets of relationships without causing harm to personal or collective privacy or unalienable rights (life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness).
